Hemp seed - The tasty and conscious base

Hemp seed: endless health benefits!

Hemp seed contains many health benefits compared to other superfoods. It is a source of vitamins (including: Vitamin E, C, B1, B2, B3, B6) and minerals (including: Phosphorus, Calcium, Potassium, Silica, Magnesium and Zinc), antioxidants and chlorophyll. Hemp seed oil contains the highest percentage of essential fatty acids (80%) than virtually any other seed in the world. It contains omega 3, 6 and 9 in the ideal ratio for humans.

Complete proteins

Hemp seed contains 35% complete proteins: this means a high content of essential amino acids. Hemp seed contains 21 amino acids, including the 9 essential amino acids that the body cannot make itself. These 'protein building blocks' play an important role in various processes in the body.

Hemp seed contains a lot of omega 3 and 6 in exactly the right proportion

Our body needs fats, but then the good fats: the essential fatty acids omega 3 and 6. The good thing is: hemp seed is full of them. Omega 3 and 6 are known to help prevent cardiovascular disease. Omega 6, for example, has a beneficial effect on your cholesterol level. Omega 3 is also important for the functioning of your brain and central nervous system. Furthermore, hemp seed also contains gamma linolenic acid (or GLA), which is naturally found in breast milk and has an anti-inflammatory effect, but is otherwise not found in common foods.

You urgently need those essential fatty acids. Only: your body does not make them itself. So make sure you get them through your diet. Hemp makes it easy for you: the omegas in hemp have the ideal ratio for your body – no other food offers this ready-made. That makes it a perfect addition to your diet.

The perfect balance for vegetarians and vegans

Hemp products are an excellent alternative to meat, dairy and soy. If you are a vegetarian or vegan, you will still get the necessary proteins or proteins with hemp. The composition of these proteins is about the same as that of meat. Hemp is a tasty and easy addition to your diet. A few spoonfuls of hemp seed or hemp protein are enough to meet your daily requirement.

Gluten free

Even if you have a gluten allergy (celiac disease), you can benefit from hemp products. You can bake the most delicious gluten-free bread, pastries and pancakes with hemp flour.

Hemp seed as a healthy addition to your meal

Hemp seed is available hulled and unhulled, and has a bit of a nutty taste. However, the most popular are the peeled seeds, because the hard shells are then missing. Peeled or unpeeled, you can eat them out of hand, but also add them to muesli, yogurt, a smoothie, dips or bread dough. Also tasty: sprinkle some over your salad. A handful every day is enough to get the daily recommended amount of a number of important nutrients. The oil is also extracted from the peeled seeds for the (cold) pressed hemp seed oil. The remaining dry mass is processed into protein powder and flour.
