Cannabinol, or CBN, is just like CBD and THC one of the many cannabinoids that occur naturally in Cannabis. However, fresh cannabis contains relatively little CBN, especially in the late stages of growth. This is because CBN is created by oxidation of THC or THCA. This oxidation process mainly takes place after cannabis has been harvested. The longer the cannabis is stored, the more CBN. For a long time, CBN was (unjustly) seen as less effective, because the psychoactive properties disappeared. However, after more research it became clear that many other properties did remain. This makes CBN the ideal alternative for people who benefit from THC but do not want the psychoactive effect.
