CBD Information

cbd moleculeCBD is a non-psychoactive active substance that is naturally present in the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant. European organically grown (fiber) hemp is used for the extraction. CBD has recently become a popular dietary supplement in a short period of time (and rightly so!) - We should not, however, provide any information about possible healthy benefits of CBD. We encourage everyone to do their own research, consult a doctor, and then come to a conclusion yourself. Because there is a lot of information on the internet about CDB Oil, we can imagine that it can sometimes be difficult to place the information and all terminology correctly. We have listed the basic concepts for you:

What is CBD

CannaBiDiol (CBD) is one of more than 100 different cannabinoids active substances that occur specifically in the cannabis plant. Another cannabinoid is THC, known for its psychoactive effect. CBD is not addictive and is NOT psychoactive, so it does not get you high. As far as known, CBD does not cause any side effects.

Is CBD legal?

Yes, CBD is legal. CBD is extracted from the flowers and leaves of certain types of cannabis (the so-called "fiber hemp") *. These are plants authorized by the EC and may contain a maximum of 0.2% THC. CBD is indicated as a dietary supplement in most EU member states.

*CBD oil is not to be confused with cannabis oil or medicinal cannabis oil, these contain higher percentages of THC and cannot go without doctor's prescription.

How does CBD work on our body?

Our body produces substances that are similar to cannabinoids: endo-cannabinoids (body-specific cannabinoids). Just like the cannabinoids in the cannabis plant (such as CBD), these can bind to cannabinoid receptors in our body. These receptors and our own cannabinoids form our endocannabinoid system. This system influences various bodily functions such as sleep, pain, appetite, perception, memory and the functioning of the immune system.

Extraction method

Cannabinoids are present in the plant in the form of an acid, such as CBDa. By heating this is converted into the free CBD. Therefore, depending on the method of making the oil, more or less free CBD is present. To extract CBD from cannabis, "supercritical CO2 extraction" is mainly used. This is a "cold" method, which also includes other active substances such as terpenes, acids (as CBDa) and other cannabinoids (such as CBC, CBG, CBN, etc.) ) are retained. The extraction results in a concentrated paste that forms the basis for CBD products. This paste can then be diluted in an oil according to the desired percentage.

Quality statement

We have made a careful selection of producers who are transparent in their production process and whose products have been extensively tested by independent laboratories. The percentage of the different cannabinoids is measured and the possible presence of undesirable substances such as fungi and (e-coli) bacteria is examined. These test results can be traced per product (batch code) so that the quality remains guaranteed. All products in our range come from EU-certified hemp which is grown without the use of pesticides and insecticides.
